Posted by Joan Van Gilson., Trenton, NJ Thursday, January 8, 2009 I visited St. Augustine 1 week before Christmas for the bed and breakfast tour and was very impressed by the city's beauty, not to mention the thousands of lights decorating the city's treasures. I enjoyed the city's history by visiting Flagler College, Lightner Museum, the fort, attended a Catholic Mass at the Cathedral, drank the water at the Fountian of Youth to stay young, witnessed the cannons firing at the fort, toured and shopped on St. George Street, visited the Oldest School House, enjoyed the great free entertainment in the square, road the trolley singing Christmas songs, enjoyed the great restaurants, talked with locals learning history and facts about the city, collected shells, walked the beach and watched surfers, climbed to the top of the lighthouse, took over 1000 pictures and loved every minute. I had a tremendous time sightseeing and learning about the oldest city in USA, which is my favorite city now, especially at Christmas time. I felt very welcome, safe, and happy to be there. Planning to return for 2009's B&B tour and to see whatever I missed. St. Augustine is a great city & should be on everyone's list to visit, especially during the holiday season. It was a pleasure to be there & I especially enjoyed the 70-80 degrees. |
